Henry Ruggs III Scouting Report

Henry Ruggs III, Wide Receiver, Alabama

Year: Junior | Height: 5-11 | Weight: 188 | pSPARQ (Combine Percentile): 97.06

Insane speed and it really shows on tape. Very few people, if any, will be able to keep up with him even in the NFL.

Excellent route running, especially his release at the line of scrimmage with his elite speed giving him very nice cuts and breaks. Excellent body control and ball skills that make him effective in contested situations.

Competitive demeanour is clear in everything he does in and off the field. His transitions from Bama’s vertical spread offence in 2018 to their West Coast Offence in 2019 has Ruggs ready to go in whatever scheme his team needs him to be.

Blocking is surprisingly good, fights really hard in every play. His speed makes him quite versatile but he really does shine on the outside where his vertical speed and ball tracking enable him to really take the top of the defence.

Catching balls into his body is something Ruggs doesn’t like to do a lot. He isn’t consistent in extending his frame to make catches. His work against press coverage still could use some work. Finally, he is still quite lean and has a lot of room left to grow.

Player Summary:

Henry Ruggs brings legit 4.2 speed to the field and is a threat to score everytime he touches the ball. However, besides his speed and acceleration he is still a fairly polished player overall with excellent route running, ball skills and hands. Ruggs has a few small gripes against him but has the potential to be one of the league’s most dangerous weapons given the attention he will command and the pure ability to just outrun everyone on the field.
